Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan partnership fuels Middle Corridor's rise

Kyrgyzstan's Prime Minister Akylbek Zhaparov’s visit to Ankara marked a significant step in strengthening relations with Türkiye. Key outcomes included a 62-article action plan and agreements to enhance trade, transport, and investment cooperation, with a target to increase bilateral trade to $5 billion. Trade volume rose from $1 billion in 2022 to $1.6 billion in 2023, with Turkish firms heavily investing in Kyrgyzstan across sectors like transport, energy, and agriculture.

Türkiye prioritizes the Middle Corridor for East-West trade, focusing on railway projects and logistics enhancements, including an "E-Permit" system. The partnership, supported by the Organization of Turkic States, reflects Türkiye’s growing influence in Central Asia. President Erdoğan's upcoming visit is expected to further strengthen these strategic ties.
