Working Group on “Effective Governance and Macroeconomic Indicators” Holds Its Next Meeting

Baku, May 1, 2026 — The Working Group on “Effective Governance and Macroeconomic Indicators,” operating under the Commission on Business Environment and International Ratings, held  its next meeting on May 1, 2026, in a video conference format.

The meeting brought together senior representatives from the Central Bank, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, the State Oil Fund, the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, as well as a representative of a non-governmental organization.

During the session, participants reviewed progress reports on the implementation of measures outlined in the Working Group’s 2026 Action Plan. The reports covered key areas including budget transparency, public debt sustainability, regulatory burden, monetary freedom, global innovation, inflation, regulatory quality and the investment climate, along with the efficient management of natural resources.Participants also exchanged views on additional measures that could be undertaken to further improve performance across these indicators.

Concluding the meeting, Azar Alasgarov, Head of the Working Group and Director of the Monetary Policy Department at the Central Bank, underscored the importance of ensuring the consistent and timely implementation of the measures in the Action Plan.
