Vusal Gasimli Appeals to Think Tanks on Armenia’s Occupation Policy

The Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), Doctor of Economics Vusal Gasimli, has addressed the world’s leading think tanks, calling for an end to Armenia’s occupation policy against Azerbaijan.

The appeal states that on the morning of September 27, 2020, the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia grossly violated the ceasefire and launched military provocations, subjecting residential areas and combat positions of the Republic of Azerbaijan to intense artillery fire. “As a result of this aggression, 24 Azerbaijani civilians, including four children, were killed. A total of 121 civilians sustained injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized. With deep concern, we note that in recent days Armenia has fired more than 10,000 various types of shells and missiles at major Azerbaijani population centers with dense civilian populations, including Ganja, Khizi, Absheron, and Mingachevir. More than 300 private residential houses have been completely destroyed or severely damaged. Four resolutions of the UN Security Council (Nos. 822, 853, 874, and 884) demand the immediate, full, and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. In some cases, UN Security Council resolutions are implemented within a matter of days. Armenia, however, has continued to ignore these resolutions for 30 years. CAERC calls on the international community to stand on the side of international law.”

More than 100 think tanks from the United States, Turkey, the European Union, Japan, China, Russia, and other countries are among the recipients of Vusal Gasimli’s appeal. The heads of prominent think tanks addressed include Center for Strategic and International Studies, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, The Heritage Foundation, Peterson Institute for International Economics, Urban Institute, Wilson Center, Center for American Progress, Atlantic Council, and RAND Corporation, among others.
