A meeting was held regarding the book "Economy of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation"
An online meeting took place between the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) and the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) to discuss the preparation of the book "Economy of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)."
Prof. Dr. Vusal Gasimli, the Executive Director of CAERC, provided information about Shusha being declared the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2024 and the assignment of the book's preparation to CAERC as part of the cultural forum of the Islamic world. He mentioned that the OIC Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Center (SESRIC), the Institute of Islamic Development Bank, and the Pakistan Foreign Relations Council, along with researchers from various OIC member countries, have received approval for the book's preparation. Think tanks from Pakistan were invited to contribute to the book.
Dr. Nadeem ul Haque, Vice-Chancellor of PIDE, emphasized the significance of establishing a network of think tanks and conducting collaborative research within the OIC framework. He expressed appreciation for the initiative to jointly prepare the book, highlighting its role in promoting research on education and entrepreneurship development in OIC countries. Dr. Haque stressed the importance of producing high-quality, evidence-based research.
During the meeting, discussions also took place on potential future activities, including joint economic research, projects, academic programs, training, and seminars between CAERC and PIDE.
The primary objective of preparing the book "Economy of OIC countries" is to create a comprehensive and representative research document that reflects the economic landscape across OIC countries, fostering deeper cooperation with think tanks from OIC member states.
