Vusal Gasimli met with representatives of "GS1 Azerbaijan" company
Prof. Dr. Vusal Gasimli, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), met with Vafa Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the Public Union "Promotion of the Global Standard 1 International System" ("GS1 Azerbaijan"), Sabina Aliyeva, Executive Director of the company, and Gulana Rasulova, Director of the Commodity Numbering Depository. The meeting discussed the advantages of the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), the potential of extensive databases generated through this system, the importance of tracking economic processes—including inflation—and its integration into local legislation.
The discussions with representatives of "GS1 Azerbaijan" also focused on creating a large database (BIGDATA) using GTIN numbers to monitor economic processes, including inflation, support the "Made in Azerbaijan" brand, and develop services to assist local producers. The use of a barcode database for local products in automated trade networks, the development of a national catalog to track both domestic and imported products on the Azerbaijani market, and other initiatives were addressed.
