Vusal Gasimli, “One in Five Individual Entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan Is a Woman”
Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication Vusal Gasimli met with a delegation of the Association of Women Entrepreneurship Development in Azerbaijan (AWED).
Vusal Gasimli noted that the Association established within the implementation of the Strategic Road Maps adopted by President Ilham Aliyev plays a crucial role in the development of women's entrepreneurship, increasing women's entrepreneurship initiatives, protecting the interests of women entrepreneurs, and providing them with business services based on transparency and social responsibility. As he said, “In 2020, there were registered 174 329 business entities, 9 230 of which were commercial legal entities, and 165 099 - individual entrepreneurs. The founders of 14.8% (1 373) of commercial legal entities and 20.4% (33 742) of individual entrepreneurs are women. International comparisons show that the development of women's entrepreneurship is important for accelerating economic growth, improving social welfare, and ensuring inclusion in the country”.
Chairwoman of Association of Women Entrepreneurship Development in Azerbaijan (AWED) Sakina Babayeva along with noting the importance of state support for the development of women's entrepreneurship, presented proposals in the fields of taxation, customs, credit, insurance, etc. V.Gasimli expressed confidence that the suggestions made within the public-private dialogue will enrich the reform agenda.
The parties discussed cooperation opportunities of the AWED with an innovative project of the CAERC, including Azexport, Digital Trade Hub, and EnterpriseAzerbaijan.com portal. AWED representatives got closely acquainted with the work of the One-Stop-Shop Export Support Center functioning within the CAERC.
