Vusal Gasimli has represented Azerbaijan in international discussions on facilitation of cross-border paperless trade in Asia and the Pacific

The first session of the Paperless Trade Council of the United Nations Framework Agreement for the Facilitation of Cross-Border Paper Trade in Asia and the Pacific is held in a hybrid format from April 27-29, 2022 in Bangkok.

 Vusal Gasimli, National Coordinator for Azerbaijan of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), has also participated in the discussions. In the session, attended by countries from Asia and the Pacific, countries with best practices in paperless trade shared their experiences and information on reforms in this area. The meeting took note of the current situation and progress in the field of trade facilitation in Azerbaijan, as well as the results of the evaluation of technical and legal training in the field of cross-border paperless trade. Azerbaijan has made significant progress over the past six years, with the country's overall trade facilitation rate increasing from 48.39% to 86.02% over the same period, according to the Paperless Transparency Trade Assessment Report of UNESCAP.

Thus, the country is the leader among the CIS countries (Russia - 84.95%, Georgia - 82.8%, Iran - 77.42%, Armenia - 62.37%) and the Central Asian countries ( SPECA) in facilitation of digital and sustainable trade. (Kazakhstan - 72.04%, Uzbekistan - 62.37%, Kyrgyzstan - 69.89%).
