Government support to tobacco growing
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev signed an Executive Order for the purpose of enhancing government support to development of tobacco growing in the country.
Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication reports that this order will also be useful for further improving social welfare of the people dealing with tobacco production, more efficiently using potential opportunities of this field and improving its competitiveness.
That is, it is proposed to allocate subsidy to tobacco producers in amount of 0,05 manat per one kilogram of dry tobacco and per ten kilograms of wet tobacco which demonstrates government support to producers.
The proposed subsidy will also apply to dry and wet tobacco produced and sold to processing facilities in 2016.
Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan will approve the rules for granting subsidies to producers within two month in agreement with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
And Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan is charged with financing of subsidies.
