CAERC Enhances Operations of the Digital Trade Hub of Azerbaijan

The Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) continues to advance the international recognition of the “Digital Trade Hub of Azerbaijan”, established in line with President I. Aliyev’s decree on strengthening Azerbaijan’s position as a digital trade hub and expanding foreign trade operations. Efforts focus on enabling non-residents to obtain electronic signatures, including the “ASAN signature”, through Azerbaijan’s diplomatic missions and consulates abroad.

As part of this initiative, Ramil Huseyn, Head of CAERC’s Strategic Planning and Development Department, met with officials from Azerbaijan’s embassies in Canberra, Australia, Fiji, and New Zealand. Acting chargé d’affaires Eljan Habibzade discussed mutual recognition of electronic signatures, including ASAN signatures, with Australia’s Digital Transformation Agency, noting that collaboration opportunities with the Australian government are under review.

Eljan Habibzade also highlighted that information on procedures for issuing electronic signatures to non-residents has been translated into English and published on embassy online platforms, with ongoing outreach and awareness activities. Once finalized, the procedures will enable foreign residents, stateless persons, Azerbaijani citizens living abroad, and foreign-based legal entities to obtain electronic signature certificates.
