Within the framework of the “Private Sector Development” project, jointly organized by the “One-Stop” Export Support Center and USAID Azerbaijan, a webinar on “Modern Requirements for Exporting Food Products to European and North American Markets” was held.

During the discussion, Nicat Hacızadə, Head of a department at the Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication Center (İİTKM), emphasized the importance of ongoing awareness and education on international requirements for new export markets. According to him, measures to ensure consumer food safety and adherence to quality standards in foreign trade enhance mutual trust and reliability between countries, which gives local exporters a quality advantage in Western markets.

Fuad Ağayev, USAID specialist in standardization and certification, and Elşən Baloğlanov, USAID international trade specialist, provided participants with detailed information on modern standards applied in European and North American markets. The webinar covered topics including food safety, plant protection, and quality control requirements, as well as discussions on how to implement these standards. In particular, the advantages of HACCP and Global G.A.P. standards, risk-based food management in European and North American markets, and expertise on fruits and vegetables, laboratory sampling, and related procedures were highlighted.

The main goal of the project is to promote high-quality production standards in the food sector, raise awareness of food safety, and instill safe food handling practices among entrepreneurs.
