TDAM Head: "Turkic World Week" Symbolizes Shared Scientific and Strategic Cooperation

"Turkic World Week," dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress held in Baku, is not merely a historic jubilee - it also symbolizes a new phase of shared scientific, cultural, and strategic cooperation among the Turkic peoples. This was stated by Ilyas Huseynov, Head of the Turkic World Research Center (TDAM) at the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) and Doctor of Philosophy in Political Sciences, in a statement to the press. He noted that the jubilee events, held on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev and on the basis of his relevant Order, are of special significance in terms of bringing the historical legacy of the First Turkological Congress, organized in Baku in 1926, back onto the international scientific agenda.

"The First Turkological Congress was not merely a scientific event. It served as an important intellectual platform for the formation of a convergence of views among the Turkic peoples on questions of shared language, alphabet, history, culture, and identity. Despite a century having passed, the ideas put forward at that congress remain as relevant as ever," I. Huseynov emphasized.

According to him, the integration policy pursued by the Organization of Turkic States in recent years, the work undertaken toward a common Turkic alphabet, and the expansion of cooperation in the fields of science, education, and culture can be regarded as a modern-day continuation of the strategic objectives defined by the First Turkological Congress.

The TDAM head noted that, as emphasized in President Ilham Aliyev's address to the participants of Turkic World Week, the resolutions of the First Turkological Congress played an important role in preserving the scientific and cultural solidarity of the Turkic peoples and gave a powerful impetus to the spiritual revival of the Turkic world during the era of independence.

I. Huseynov noted that the Turkic world is currently entering a new phase of development across the areas of political, economic, transport, energy, digitalization, and humanitarian cooperation. At such a time, Turkic World Week in Baku will make an important contribution to the advancement of shared scientific thought, the promotion of new research in the field of Turkology, and the identification of future directions of cooperation.

"Azerbaijan has historically been one of the intellectual centers of the Turkic world. Today, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, our country continues to play an active role in promoting integration processes within the Organization of Turkic States. The fact that the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress is being commemorated at the international level precisely in Baku once again demonstrates Azerbaijan's leading position in the scientific and cultural integration of the Turkic world," Ilyas Huseynov added.

The TDAM head believes that the international conferences, scientific discussions, and cultural events held within the framework of Turkic World Week will give a new impetus to the development of Turkology and serve to further strengthen scientific and humanitarian ties among the Turkic peoples.

"Turkic World Week," which will run until July 3, is being organized jointly by the Ministry of Culture, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), and the Ministry of Science and Education, in partnership with the Organization of Turkic States, TURKSOY, Baku State University, the Turkic Academy, and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.

The official opening ceremony is attended by 80 prominent Turkologist scholars from various scientific centers across 20 countries, including the Turkic republics, as well as representatives of Turkic international organizations.
