Azerbaijan’s Non-Oil Export Has Increased by 25,4 Percent
During January-May 2021, the export of Azerbaijan amounted to 8 billion US dollars, including non-oil export equal to 907,6 million US dollars. The non-oil export increased by 184 million US dollars or 25.4 percent compared to the same period in 2020.
During January-May 2021, exports of fruits and vegetables amounted to 206.1 million, cotton fiber – 109.3 million, aluminum and products made from it – 57.9 million, ferrous metals and products made from them – 39.7 million, cotton yarn – 17.8 million, chemical industry products – 19.2 million, sugar – 16.3 million, vegetable and animal fat and oils – 13.8 million, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks – 5.8 million, and tea – 3.7 million US dollars.
In May 2021, exports of Azerbaijan amounted to 1.6 billion US dollars including 210.5 million US dollars in the non-oil sector. Compared to May 2020, the non-oil export increased by 38 million US dollars or 22 percent. Also, in 2021, the food products in the non-oil export amounted to 85.4 million US dollars, and non-food products - 125.1 million US dollars. Although there was a decrease in food exports in May 2021, non-food exports increased by 55.8% compared to the same month of last year. The main drivers of the increase in non-food exports during May were fertilizers, food industry residues, and wastes; animal feed, cotton, ferrous metals, lead and aluminum and products made from them, land vehicles except rail and tram vehicles and their parts and accessories, etc. The main reason for the decrease in food exports during May was the decline in exports of fruits and vegetables.
