Azerbaijan advanced to the 32nd place in the "Promotion of Efficient Energy Transition-2023" report

The World Economic Forum's "Promotion of Efficient Energy Transition-2023" report has been released. Gunay Guliyeva, Deputy director of the Economic Analysis Department of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, commented on the report. She said that Azerbaijan advanced to the 32nd place in the report. This progress is the result of measures taken in Azerbaijan on the main parameters of preparation for the energy transition, including financial investments, infrastructure and innovations.

According to comment, the annual report entitled "Promotion of Efficient Energy Transition" evaluates the efforts made by 120 countries to move towards a sustainable and efficient energy system. In the report, it is emphasized that Azerbaijan, which is among the countries showing the highest progress in the last 10 years, is committed to balancing economic development and environmental sustainability.

The report notes that Azerbaijan, a leading energy producer, is making strategic use of its vast energy resources by making significant investments in renewable sources such as wind and solar power, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and diversifying its energy portfolio. Thanks to all these efforts, Azerbaijan has become one of the main players in global energy security.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan is among the countries with the highest progress in the Energy Transition Index between 2022 and 2023. This achievement reflects Azerbaijan's active approach to the energy transition, surpassing the global average in the Energy Transition Index.

According to G. Guliyeva, energy security remains a major concern for governments and economic players around the world, and its impact is reflected in supply chains, countries and international systems. It is reported that Azerbaijan, together with other major fuel exporters such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE, has a high index of energy security as a result of efficient management of its gas reserves.

On the other hand, Azerbaijan is among the countries that invest the most in renewable energy in terms of GDP, like China, Vietnam, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Additionally, the report notes that Azerbaijan has risen significantly in the rankings this year due to its strong efforts to build energy transition readiness infrastructure.
