A professor from the University of Nevada was trained at the "StartUp School"
Classes by foreign experts continue successfully at the "StartUp School" which is created jointly with the Enterprise Azerbaijan portal of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication and the "Ozmen Entrepreneurship Center" of the University of Nevada, USA.
The "StartUp School" participants showed interest in "Markets and Marketing" training by the Professor of the University of Nevada, United States of America Matt Westfield.
Ekspetrt emphasizes that the main work begins with the identification and confirmation of the primary customer and the secondary customer in the respective markets. The topic was mainly devoted to the directions available to startups and covering the various forms of marketing that give the most boost to underfunded startups. Together with the startups, the professor researched different marketing methods for each founder, depending on the market, customer segment, and specificity of their business.
The main objective of this course is to equip students with an understanding of the market selection and segmentation that can determine market penetration and ultimate success. According to the professor, once selected, a startup should be able to use multiple tools that attract the intended market that the major players can sell or advertise, but at a cost that is affordable to the startup budget.
For this, startups were given special tasks:
• Explore the different types of markets a company can penetrate, and how to choose the right ones
• Analyze successful marketing strategies and practices
• How do 2-sided markets work?
• Differentiate between different types of marketing tools, campaigns, trade shows, and networks
• Marketing to different types of customers: B2B, B2C and hybrids: prepare an offer
• Develop a marketing strategy based on customer segments, budgets, and messages.
It should be noted that 9 projects (teams) selected at the end of the trainings will participate in the mentoring program at the Incubation Center of SABAH.Lab for 2 weeks. Special experts will determine the winners of the first 3 places among the projects.
The operator of the www.enterpriseazerbaijan.gov.az portal is the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication. The portal was created according to the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated September 19, 2018 "On additional measures to support competitive domestic production in the non-oil sector".
