Vusal Gasimli Discusses Economic Reforms of Azerbaijan in Paris
Vusal Gasimli, Executive Director of the Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication Center (ERACC), participated in the ministers’ conference titled “Better Governance for Citizens and Businesses,” jointly organized by the European Union, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and SIGMA in Paris.
During the conference, Gasimli delivered a presentation on the economic reforms led by President Ilham Aliyev in Azerbaijan, including structural reforms. He noted that in Azerbaijan, reforms are developed, implemented, monitored, and evaluated in a transparent and inclusive manner, in accordance with strategic management, open government, and citizen participation principles. This approach has ensured that economic reforms are irreversible and yield effective results. In particular, he highlighted that the “m-residency” platform provides extensive opportunities for ensuring citizen participation during governance reforms.
Gasimli also emphasized that Azerbaijan’s Digital Trade Hub facilitates the creation of a unified digital space in the Eurasian region through the mutual recognition of electronic signatures, making the delivery of services easier and improving public administration. “As the first country in Europe to establish a Digital Trade Hub, Azerbaijan serves as an example by expanding the role of digital services in governance reforms.”
He further discussed initiatives such as the ASAN Service, the Azexport portal, and developments in mobile and electronic signatures as part of governance reforms.
The plenary sessions of the conference focused on transforming public administration for citizens during challenging times and the long-term impact of governance on economic development. Participants also engaged in discussions on involving citizens in governance reforms and the importance of the law for both citizens and businesses.
High-level government officials from Canada, Poland, Albania, Georgia, Ukraine, Armenia, Moldova, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other countries attended the event.
