Vusal Gasimli Meets Heads of International Donor and Development Organizations
Vusal Gasimli, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), held a meeting with leaders of international donor and development organizations operating in Azerbaijan. The primary goal of the meeting was to present the 2017 monitoring and evaluation results of the Strategic Roadmaps for the national economy and key economic sectors.
During the discussion, participants were informed about the status of strategic targets set in the roadmaps and updates on ongoing reforms in Azerbaijan. Gasimli highlighted that the international community’s attention to the implementation of the roadmaps demonstrates that the country’s economic reforms adhere to principles of open government, transparency, and accountability. He emphasized that international organizations not only provide technical support, capacity building, and research assistance, but also show interest in investment opportunities linked to these reforms.
CAERC presents the roadmaps as a dialogue platform, enabling government agencies and donor organizations to exchange ideas and improve the efficiency of roadmap implementation. International cooperation has been particularly important for the development of monitoring and evaluation methodologies.
Following the presentation, participants engaged in a discussion on the report’s results, and Gasimli answered questions. Representatives from UNDP, USAID, the World Bank, the European Union, Asian Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank, JICA, IFC, and embassies of over 20 countries in Azerbaijan attended the meeting. The session was co-chaired by UNDP, which holds a coordinating mandate among donor organizations.
