V. Gasimli Participates in Discussions on the “Belt and Road” Initiative in Kazakhstan
Vusal Gasimli, Executive Director of the Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication Center (ERACC), took part in a seminar in Almaty, Kazakhstan, titled “Assessing the Impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on the Central Asian Economy.” The seminar focused on evaluating the Belt and Road Initiative’s effects on the economies of Central Asia and implementing the UN’s sustainable development projects. Discussions also covered investment, trade expansion, and related issues.
During the seminar, V. Gasimli delivered a presentation on the digitalization of the “Great Silk Road.” He highlighted that Azerbaijan’s Digital Trade Hub, being the second of its kind globally, can contribute to the digitalization of the Great Silk Road. Gasimli proposed an initiative for the mutual recognition of electronic signatures along the Great Silk Road, which was positively received by the seminar participants.
The Executive Director also addressed the development of electronic trade, e-commerce, and e-banking along the Great Silk Road, emphasizing that Azerbaijan has made significant contributions through its Digital Trade Hub. Implementation of certain projects and initiatives in this area is currently ongoing.
V. Gasimli led a session at the seminar dedicated to establishing working groups for the Belt and Road Initiative, which also included presentations by UN experts.
It is noteworthy that the seminar in Almaty on “Assessing the Impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on the Central Asian Economy” brought together around 60 representatives from Azerbaijan, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. These participants primarily represented ministries of economy, central banks, national statistics agencies, and think tanks.
