On the eve of the Turkic States Cooperation Day, joint activities were discussed at the CAERC
October 3 is celebrated annually as Turkic States Cooperation Day, marking the anniversary of the Nakhchivan Agreement, signed on October 3, 2009, which established the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States. The Organization of Turkic States is founded on four key pillars: common history, common language, common identity, and common culture, and serves as a crucial regional platform for fostering cooperation and solidarity among its member states.
Prof. Dr. Vusal Gasimli, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, hosted a delegation led by Sanjar Valiyev, Head of the Center for Foreign Policy Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. The delegation also included Abdulaziz Sadigov, Senior Researcher, and Ahmad Mansurov, Advisor to the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, Dr. Gasimli addressed the strategic alliance between the Turkic states, highlighting the rapid development of economic cooperation, mutual friendship, and fraternal relations. He noted that the agreement on alliance relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan had given momentum to the acceleration of economic cooperation between the two countries. He further elaborated on the current state of trade relations and future objectives. Dr. Gasimli praised Uzbekistan's investment projects in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories and emphasized the potential for collaboration in key sectors such as agriculture, textiles, and technology. Additionally, he underscored the importance of cooperation on environmental issues and climate change, advocating for joint initiatives focused on renewable energy and the exchange of best practices in sustainable development on international platforms.
Sanjar Valiyev emphasized that Uzbekistan will assume the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement in 2027, highlighting the significance of this role in promoting peace and cooperation among member states. He praised Azerbaijan’s leadership and contribution to regional stability during its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement. Valiyev also proposed establishing a council of experts to discuss partnerships and research projects in strategic areas such as green finance, renewable energy, transportation, and the Silk Road—areas critical to supporting economic development. He expressed interest in cooperating with the CAERC on these initiatives.
The meeting concluded with discussions on shared goals and potential research directions aimed at further enhancing the partnership between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. As a gesture of goodwill, the book Turkic States Economy was presented to the guests.
