A joint meeting of the working groups responsible for the Global Innovation Index was held
A joint extended meeting of the working groups responsible for the sub-components of the Global Innovation Index (GII) was held at the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC). The purpose of organizing the meeting is to examine the current situation in the field of economic development, to define the tasks ahead and to organize effective coordination in this field.
Officials of the Secretariat of the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Ministry of Science and Education, the Intellectual Property Agency, the State Statistics Committee, CAERC and other government institutions participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, the general views on the mentioned index, the obtained results and the general directions of improvement opportunities were discussed, as well as thematic discussions and exchange of views on the sub-indices for which the relevant state institution is responsible.
The 2023 issue of the National Budget for 2023 was widely discussed at the meeting, the participants of the meeting were informed about the position of our country. It has been stated that the main goal of the GII, which has been operating since 2007, is to assess the level of innovative development of countries, including promoting innovative initiatives by opening doors for knowledge exchange and policy dialogue for governments, civil society (including the private sector) and international organizations.
It was emphasized that as a result of efficient and coordinated activity of all state institutions on GII, the position of our country in the new index has improved by 4 points compared to last year. At the same time, in order to further improve GII indicators, diagnostics and analyzes were conducted on each indicator based on the matrix prepared by the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings.
In the meeting conducted in the format of a mutual discussion, it was noted that a more detailed examination of the indicators of the relevant sub-indicators on the GII based on the methodology and existing realities, the identification and implementation of the necessary measures to improve the indicators in this area, and the organization of effective communication are among the main challenges facing us.
The thematic meetings of the relevant working groups of the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings on GII will continue for two weeks.
