The Working Group on Inclusive Social Development and Social Protection Held its Next Meeting

A meeting of the Working Group on Inclusive Social Development and Social Protection was held to discuss the implementation of the goals outlined in the "Social and Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026".

The meeting, conducted in videoconference format, was dedicated to discussing the report on the monitoring and evaluation of the work carried out in 2025 in relation to the Strategy’s goals of “Ensuring that every citizen benefits from development” and “Achieving high and equitable social protection.”

The chairperson of the Working Group, Vusal Nasirli, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, stated that in 2025, the next, and since 2018, the fifth social reform package had been implemented. He emphasized that the dynamic growth of social payments and measures to strengthen the social protection system had continued successfully last year.

Elnur Alakbarov, Head of the Economic Analysis Department at the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), presented a report on the work carried out in 2025 in relation to the goals of the "Social and Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026", specifically under the headings “Ensuring that every citizen benefits from development” and “Achieving high and equitable social protection and an inclusive society.”

Discussions were held, and proposals were made on several topics, including:

  • Improving the wage system,

  • Stimulating employment growth in the private sector,

  • Increasing the efficiency of employment,

  • Creating additional opportunities for the social protection of low-income and poverty-prone groups,

  • Ensuring the financial sustainability of the pension system,

  • Expanding the coverage of state pensions,

  • Increasing the provision of sustainable social services for socially vulnerable population groups.
