A roundtable on “Economic Reforms: Application and Importance of Economic-Mathematical Methods” was held at the Center for Analysis and Communication of Economic Reforms (CAERC).

CAERC’s Executive Director, PhD in Economics Vusal Qasimli, in his opening speech, emphasized the importance of exchanging ideas and experiences on economic analysis and modeling with leading scholars from research centers operating in the country.

The discussion focused on the use of various economic-mathematical analysis methods developed by local think tanks, which can comprehensively describe economic processes, and on the results achieved through their application. It was noted that ongoing global geopolitical and economic developments require more advanced and progressive economic analysis methods. The impact of economic analyses on shaping economic policy and enabling more optimal decision-making was also highlighted. Drawing on international experience, ways to involve local think tanks effectively and in a coordinated manner in the future were discussed, joint initiatives were identified, and it was recommended to hold regular roundtables on this topic.

In the session titled “How to Ensure that Analyses Conducted by Research Centers Are Applied to Economic Policy? Research Models for Economic Development Analysis: Theory and Practice Examples for Economic Policy,” presentations were delivered by:

Following this, Vusale Jafarova, Strategic Analysis and Planning Manager at CAERC, delivered a presentation on “How Do Governments Collaborate with Think Tanks in Economic Analysis and Forecasting: International Experience?”

The roundtable concluded with a Q&A session addressing questions from the attending scholars.
