Online conference on “Startup Movement During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Challenges and Opportunities” held

The Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), together with the British Council, has held an online conference on the topic “Startup Movement During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Challenges and Opportunities.” The conference was opened with remarks by the Executive Director of CAERC, Vusal Gasimli, and the Country Director of the British Council, Summer Xia.

Following the opening speeches, Professor Matthew Gorton from Newcastle University delivered a presentation on “The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the startup business model.” Rufat Azizov, Executive Director of “Unimetal and ProMetal Group,” spoke on “Stages of business continuity in crisis management during COVID-19.” Cəfər Nəcəfov, Country Director of the “Founder Institute,” presented on “How to start a successful startup during the COVID-19 pandemic.” Oruc Dursunzadə, Coordinator of the “Creative Spark” program and the EnterpriseAzerbaijan portal, discussed “The role of the enterpriseazerbaijan.com portal in the development of startups during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The pandemic has confronted startups, as well as other sectors, with new realities. The main objective of the event was to contribute to the development of appropriate strategies for startups operating in the country to address the challenges posed by the pandemic and to mitigate its potential impacts. This, in turn, is aimed at enabling startups to achieve sustainable and resilient growth in the post-pandemic period.
