The Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) organized another public lecture at Baku Higher Oil School (BANM) as part of its initiative to promote awareness of economic reforms in leading universities.

Prior to the lecture by CAERC Executive Director Vüsal Qasımlı on “Economic Reforms in Azerbaijan: Achievements and Prospects," BANM Rector Elmar Qasımov welcomed faculty and students. He noted that organizing such events is vital for students’ development and the formation of critical thinking. Rector Qasımov emphasized that, thanks to the policies of President İlham Əliyev, revenues from oil contracts have contributed to improving public welfare, enabling hundreds of young Azerbaijanis to study abroad and return with expertise, turning oil capital into human capital, as envisioned by Heydər Əliyev. He also highlighted reforms in cashless transactions and the transparency of payment and customs systems.

Vüsal Qasımlı stressed that the implementation of Azerbaijan’s oil strategy has ensured key components of economic security, including transportation, logistics, food, and financial security. He added that, building on these achievements and the country’s socio-political stability, a new stage of reforms is underway. Alongside institutional and structural reforms, improvements in the business environment and the application of economic incentives are driving development. He noted that in 2018, rapid economic growth is expected, with human capital being a key driver.

Qasımlı also provided detailed information on the strategic roadmaps and the development of a new economic model in Azerbaijan.

The lecture concluded with a Q&A session, during which the Executive Director answered questions from the audience and expressed gratitude to BANM Rector Elmar Qasımov for supporting the organization of the event.
