A discussion was held on the monitoring of the State Program on the Geological Study of the Earth's Subsoil and the Efficient Use of Mineral Raw Materials Base

A preliminary monitoring report for 2024 on the “State Program on Geological Study of Subsoil and Efficient Use of the Mineral Raw Material Base for 2020–2024” was discussed at the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC).

In his opening speech, Executive Director of CAERC, Vusal Gasimli, emphasized the successful implementation of the State Program and provided general information on the monitoring results of the work targeted for 2024. He noted that in today's rapidly changing economic and technological environment, the efficient use of the mineral raw material base holds strategic importance. This is not only crucial for ensuring sustainable economic development but also plays a critical role in resource optimization and environmental protection. Particularly, the rising demand for critical metals in the global economy and the increasing requirements for environmental protection make more effective use of mineral resources even more essential. In this regard, the application of innovative technologies and reforms in resource management are key factors that support the economy both nationally and internationally.

Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Vugar Karimov, emphasized that necessary steps have been taken for the effective implementation of the State Program and that the work has been carried out in a coordinated manner. He highlighted that projects were prioritized to ensure efficient use of resources during the implementation of the State Program, underlining the significance of this prioritization. The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the important steps taken for the effective implementation of the State Program and the proper organization of the implementation process. He stated that the execution of this work requires close cooperation and coordinated approaches between relevant state institutions and experts. He also noted that the prioritization of projects is crucial not only for optimal resource management but also for ensuring ecological and economic sustainability. Additionally, the selection of projects is based on minimizing environmental impacts, applying technological innovations, and aligning with principles of sustainable development. This approach will ensure the preservation of Azerbaijan's natural resources for future generations and enhance the competitiveness of the country's economy.

Later, Sabina Cumazade, Deputy Head of the Monitoring and Evaluation Department of CAERC, presented the most important projects implemented in accordance with the objectives set within the framework of the State Program. She noted that the purposeful and large-scale projects implemented during the execution of this program will enable more efficient use of the mineral and raw material resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Subsequently, representatives of the main implementing bodies of the State Program — the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, AzerGold CJSC, the Geological Exploration Agency, and the Agency for the Use of State Mineral Resources — shared their views and proposals regarding the preliminary monitoring report for 2024.

At the end of the presentation, potential cooperation opportunities were discussed for the successful preparation of the next State Program aimed at geological study of subsoil and efficient use of the mineral raw material base. Within this framework, the importance of strengthening coordination between relevant state bodies and specialists, and carrying out joint efforts to optimize resource management through scientific research and technological innovations, was emphasized. Future cooperation in this field will ensure the more efficient and sustainable use of Azerbaijan’s raw material resources and strengthen the country's international standing.

The meeting was also attended by Ali Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the Geological Exploration Agency (GEA), Samir Idayatov, Chairman of the Board of the Agency for the Use of State Mineral Resources (AUSMR), and responsible representatives from relevant institutions involved in the implementation of the State Program.

It should be noted that the “State Program on Geological Study of Subsoil and Efficient Use of the Mineral Raw Material Base for 2020–2024” was approved by the Presidential Decree dated March 16, 2020. The monitoring and evaluation of the measures envisaged in the State Program are carried out by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC).
