Vusal Qasimli Receives European Union Ambassadors
Vusal Qasimli, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, received a delegation composed of European Union (EU) Eastern Partnership Ambassadors-at-Large.
The Executive Director noted that Azerbaijan is the European Union’s largest trade and investment partner in the region: “At the same time, the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars and Astara–Astara railway lines, as well as the Baku International Sea Trade Port, will contribute to the development of the East–West and North–South transport corridors, which are of significant importance for the European Union.”
Vusal Qasimli emphasized that the reforms carried out in Azerbaijan have improved the business environment, highlighting that the country advanced by 8 positions in the “Doing Business 2018” report, rising from 65th to 57th place among 190 countries, and became one of the top three reformers in the Europe and Central Asia region.
During the discussions, Yaan Reinhold, Ambassador-at-Large for the Eastern Partnership of Estonia, which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, stated on behalf of the EU leadership and the ambassadors participating in the meeting that Azerbaijan–EU cooperation is developing very positively: “The achievements in economic reforms and digitalization in Azerbaijan are of particular importance.”
Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan, Kestutis Yankauskas, underlined that the visit of ambassadors from various countries could create new opportunities for cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, questions regarding the Strategic Road Maps, Azexport, the Digital Trade Hub and the “One-Window” Export Support Center were answered.
