Monitoring of the "National Strategy for the Efficient Use of Water Resources" continued in Tartar, Beylagan, Sabirabad, and Neftchala districts
Representatives of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) continued their monitoring visit regarding the implementation of the "National Strategy for the Efficient Use of Water Resources" in the Tartar, Beylagan, Sabirabad, and Neftchala districts.
The visit featured the participation of Vusal Gasimli, Executive Director of CAERC, and responsible employees of the Center, alongside representatives from the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
In the Tartar district, the monitoring group inspected the bank protection works along the right and left banks of the Tartar River, as well as the operations of water treatment facilities. Discussions were held regarding the risk of damage to the pier structures of the main bridge crossing the river at the city entrance, alongside challenges encountered within closed drainage networks.
In the Beylagan district, an on-site evaluation focused on bank protection works, water losses, and siltation along the section of the Kohne Khangizi canal passing through the city. In the Sabirabad district, the assessment targeted the elevation of the riverbed at the confluence of the Kura and Araz rivers, the necessity for bank protection works, ecological matters regarding riverside trees and shrubs, the insufficient performance of pumping stations located on the Kura River, and difficulties in drainage collector discharges.
In the Neftchala district, inspections were carried out at modular-type drinking water treatment plants, and measures aimed at improving the water supply of riverside villages were thoroughly monitored.
CAERC Executive Director Vusal Gasimli stated that measures aimed at water resource management, the reduction of water losses, infrastructure modernization, and the deployment of modern irrigation systems are being successfully implemented within the framework of the National Strategy.
It should be noted that according to the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated October 10, 2024, the monitoring and evaluation of the execution of measures scheduled under the "National Strategy for the Efficient Use of Water Resources" is carried out by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication based on the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
