During the first 6 months of this year, the export of Azerbaijan amounted to 8.8 billion US dollars, including non-oil export equal to 1.2 billion US dollars. The non-oil export increased by 248 million US dollars or 27.1 percent compared to the same period in 2020.

During January-June 2021, exports of fruits and vegetables amounted to 306.4 million, cotton fiber – 123 million, aluminum and products made from it – 61 million, ferrous metals and products made from them – 53 million, cotton yarn – 23 million, chemical industry products – 36 million, sugar – 19 million, vegetable and animal fat and oils – 16 million, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks – 6.8 million, and tea – 4.2 million US dollars.

In May June, exports of Azerbaijan amounted to 1.3 billion US dollars including 255 million US dollars in the non-oil sector. In June, the trade surplus was positive and amounted to 400.5 million US dollars, while last year it was negative. The non-oil export is 64.2 million US dollars or 33.7 percent more than in June 2020. Also, in 2021, the food products in the non-oil export amounted to 112.2 million US dollars, and non-food products – 142.7 million US dollars.

In June 2021, there was an increase in exports of food and non-food products. Thus, food export has increased by 11.8% and non-food – by 58.1% compared to the same period of last year.

The main drivers of the increase in food exports during June were processed products of vegetables, fruits, nuts or other parts of plants, sugar and confectionery products, animal and vegetable fats, oils and their derivatives, ready-made edible fats, animal and vegetable waxes, edible fruits and nuts, citrus peels and melon peels, etc. Ores, slags and ashes, fertilizers, cotton, ferrous metals, plastics and plastic products, copper and copper products, land vehicles except for railway vehicles and trams, and their parts and accessories were among the drivers in the non-food export.
