Cooperation Discussed Between CAERC and Islamic Development Bank
An online meeting has been held between representatives of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). The meeting focused on Azerbaijan’s economic reform agenda, prospects for cooperation in boosting competitiveness and productivity, as well as the monitoring and evaluation of state programs.
During the meeting, Dr. Cem Tintin, an economist at the Islamic Development Bank, delivered a presentation on the Partnership Strategy aimed at further strengthening the long-term partnership between the IsDB and the Republic of Azerbaijan within a program-based approach covering the period 2027–2031. He noted that the 51st Annual Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group was held in Baku on June 16–19, 2026. It was also highlighted that consistent steps are being taken to deepen cooperation between the IsDB and Azerbaijan over the 2027–2031 period.
Elshan Yusifli, Head of sector at CAERC, provided detailed information on the Center's activities, as well as the work accomplished in the field of monitoring and evaluation. It was highlighted that this year CAERC produced a two-volume research study titled "The Economic Potential of Islamic Countries," authored by 47 experts representing prominent think tanks across more than 20 Islamic nations. The study was published by the prestigious UK publisher Emerald Publishing. Edited by Professor Vusal Gasimli, Executive Director of CAERC and Doctor of Economic Sciences, the book has been indexed in the Scopus international scientific database.
Following the presentation, questions from the IsDB representatives were addressed. During the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in human capital development, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and other key areas, expressing a shared commitment to advancing joint initiatives in these fields.
