Video on “Armenia’s Lack of Prospects in a Resource-Based War” Released in Foreign Languages

A speech by the Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), Vusal Gasimli, titled “Armenia’s Lack of Prospects in a Resource-Based War with Azerbaijan,” has been translated and disseminated in Armenian, Russian, and English.

The video states that, in the war launched in response to Armenia’s provocations, Armenia’s losses continue to increase. The material categorizes these losses into four main areas: military equipment and ammunition, military infrastructure, manpower, and the financing of the war. Armenia is already preparing to further increase its military budget in an attempt to continue the occupation of Azerbaijani territories. In Armenia, which pursues a militaristic policy, one in every four people lives in poverty, while per capita external debt exceeds USD 2,000. The country faces the threat of an economic, social, and political crisis.

The video emphasizes that Armenia, with public debt amounting to 60 percent of GDP and a budget deficit at 5 percent of GDP, is bound to face inevitable defeat in a resource-intensive war in the short term. A single comparison is sufficient to illustrate the imbalance: in terms of strategic foreign currency reserves, Azerbaijan exceeds Armenia by more than 20 times, and by up to five times in terms of the size of the state budget.
