Export opportunities of the Fisheries Industry discussed at the initiative of “Azexport”
A meeting was held between representatives of Azexport, operated by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, and representatives of Azproduct LLC, a company specializing in the fish and seafood industry in Azerbaijan.
The meeting focused on realizing the export potential of Azerbaijan’s fisheries sector, identifying ways to eliminate technical barriers encountered when accessing global markets, and discussing the strategic development directions of the industry.
During the discussions, the dynamics of export orders for fish and canned seafood received by the Azexport portal from foreign countries were analyzed. It was noted that interest in products from this category is growing in global markets, while at the same time international quality standards and certification requirements for exports are becoming increasingly stringent.
Special attention was given to the application of international sanitary and hygiene standards, modern packaging requirements, and product traceability systems necessary for entering foreign markets. In addition, participants exchanged views on compliance with cold chain requirements during the transportation of fish products, existing challenges in international logistics and optimal solutions, as well as increasing the competitiveness of local production through the development of aquaculture and the introduction of modern technologies in the processing industry.
Representatives of Azproduct LLC, a resident of the Neftchala Industrial District, shared their experience in adapting international food safety standards within the production process and preparing products for export. It was emphasized that aligning the company’s production infrastructure with modern requirements is of great importance for strengthening the position of local products in foreign markets. The company’s achievements in the domestic market and in the HORECA sector under the Dalga brand were also discussed as examples of effective strategies for representing local brands internationally.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to strengthen joint cooperation aimed at expanding the export geography of the fisheries industry and ensuring the prompt processing of incoming export inquiries.
