The Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) has published the February 2018 issue of its Export Review, detailing Azerbaijan’s export performance in January. Key highlights include:

• Non-oil sector exports reached $123 million in January 2018, marking a one-third increase compared to January 2017.

• The top destinations for non-oil products were Russia ($36.8 million), Turkey ($23 million), Switzerland ($17.9 million), Georgia ($11.3 million), and China ($4.4 million).

Top Exported Products:

1. Gold (non-coin, unprocessed) – $17 million

2. Dates – $13 million

3. Low-density polyethylene – $9.7 million

Other notable non-oil exports included:

• Fruits and vegetables – $35 million

• Plastics and products – $10 million

• Aluminum and products – $9 million

• Ferrous metals and products – $5 million

• Chemical industry products – $3.6 million

Compared to January 2017, exports increased significantly: electricity (+86%), fruits and vegetables (+45%), chemical products (+36%), and cotton (+20%).

Service Exports:

• In January 2018, Azercosmos ASC exported satellite telecommunications services to 15 countries, generating $423,000 in revenue. Key markets included the UAE, Germany, Egypt, Georgia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Cyprus, CAR, UK, Ukraine, and others.

Azexport.az Portal:

• In January 2018, the portal received export orders totaling $81.5 million.

• From January 1, 2017, to January 31, 2018, export orders from 78 countries totaled $556.6 million.

• Top five countries by orders: Russia (22%), Turkey (8%), Ukraine (8%), Saudi Arabia (6%), UAE (6%).

• Most ordered products included wine, tea, hazelnuts, tomato juice, pomegranate, pomegranate concentrate, apples, as well as beans, eggs, decorative flowers, cosmetics, powdered milk, confectionery, jams, medicinal plants, furniture sets, engine oil, bicycles, cotton oil, paints, and cotton seeds.
