The strategic importance of the Middle Corridor: growth of investment along the Trans-Caspian route and Azerbaijan’s regional role

On 27 November 2025, participants of the Investors’ Forum on the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor (TCTC) held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, once again confirmed the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor as a fast, safe, and reliable route between Europe and Asia. During the discussions, the need to strengthen connectivity between the European Union and Central Asia in the fields of transport, trade, energy, and digitalization-via interregional links, the South Caucasus, and the Black Sea region-was emphasized. Participants unanimously noted the need to strengthen coordination, eliminate logistical barriers, harmonize regulations, and further expand the scale of infrastructure projects. According to the forum's outcomes, the European Union will implement specific projects to develop Trans-Caspian transport links, expanding the capabilities of the Middle Corridor and further increasing its importance.
