The latest session of the "Environmental Issues" Working Group convened to conclude the monitoring and evaluation of the "Social and Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2022-2026". Hosted at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the meeting featured a report from Umayra Taghiyeva, the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Chair of the Working Group. She discussed the accomplishments over the year and provided insights into the status of achieving the "High-quality ecological environment" goal outlined in the Strategy.
Subsequently, Emil Gasimov, the Head of the Sectoral Program Monitoring Sector at the m onitoring and evaluation division of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, delivered a comprehensive report. He highlighted the progress in the six action directions, addressing challenges encountered and offering recommendations.
Following the presentation, extensive discussions unfolded among the working group members. Diverse opinions and suggestions were voiced, and recommendations were put forth to enhance implementation effectiveness. The subsequent steps were delineated.
Apart from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and CAERC, the "Environmental Issues" Working Group comprises representatives from the Ministries of Economy, Finance, Science and Education, Agriculture, Emergency Situations, Digital Development and Transport, Energy, along with the State Statistics Committee, State Tourism, State Water Resources, Food Safety agencies, State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance, State Agency for Citizen Service and Social Innovation under the President, TABIB, ANAS, State Oil Company, "Azerbaijan Airlines" CJSC, and "Tamiz shahr" OJSC, with their respective departments and heads being represented.
It is noteworthy that 8 working groups were established to ensure the complete, timely, and effective execution of measures outlined in the "2022-2026 Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan" and to coordinate the activities of pertinent state bodies. The "Environmental Issues" working group is specifically tasked with realizing the goal of a "High-quality ecological environment" and coordinating the endeavors of relevant state bodies.
