In order to facilitate the exchange of information on the movement of goods and vehicles between the customs authorities of the governments of the Organization of Turkic States, the agreements "On the establishment of a simplified customs corridor between the governments of the Organization of Turkic States" and "On international combined cargo transportation between the governments of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States" were approved. done. This is considered to be another important step towards the development of trade relations between the Turkish states, and thanks to this step, information about transported goods and means of transport will be exchanged electronically between the governments of the Turkish Republic.
Ayhan Satıcı, the head of the Turkic World Research Center of the Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication Center, said these thoughts in his statement to AZERTAC.
Commenting on the approval of the agreements, he said that the implementation of the customs corridor increases the practical importance of the Middle Corridor, which is the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Within the framework of the new geopolitical and geoeconomic realities in the region, cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor has increased from 350,000 tons to 530,000 tons in 2020-2021. The creation of the customs corridor will lead to rapid cargo transportation between the OTS countries, including a significant increase in the volume of cargo transportation.
The representative of the Turkic World Research Center also considers the implementation of international combined cargo transportation between the governments of the CIS as an important step to facilitate transport operations in the region: "In addition to facilitating cargo transportation procedures between the CIS countries, it will also contribute to the development of cooperation along the Middle Corridor, transport, border and customs procedures. will lead to digitization. This, in turn, will contribute to the increase of the transit potential between the TDT countries, as well as along the route, and to the integration of the countries that will participate in this process into the regional and international transport systems.
According to A. Satyci, it is possible to observe the active participation of Azerbaijan in these processes not only by the adopted legal projects, but also by the fast-paced works along the Zangezur Corridor. Because the Zangezur Corridor also serves to diversify the route passing through the South Caucasus along the Middle Corridor and geographically connect the Turkic states.
He added that the indicators of the Telecommunication Infrastructure Index (TII) and Human Capital Index (HCI) are quite high among the OTS countries. In countries with high indicators in such fields, it is considered more appropriate to exchange electronic information, simplify customs procedures, create electronic trade hubs, reach free trade agreements on service and investment sectors, and deepen economic cooperation in general.
It should be noted that the implementation of the document signed in Samarkand last November will accelerate the development of trade relations between the Turkish states in the near future. It should be taken into account that the Turkish states with an area of 4.8 million square kilometers, a population of more than 170 million people, a GDP of 1.4 trillion US dollars and a trade turnover of more than 855 billion US dollars have the potential to have the role of a geo-economic locomotive in Eurasia today. .
