Rashad Najafli, Deputy Head of the Economic Analysis Department at the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), participated in an international training session held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The training, organized in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia Regional Capacity Development Center (CCAMTAC), as well as the IMF’s Monetary and Capital Markets Department and the Legal Department, focused on the topic: "Currency Controls, Capital Flow Management, and Liberalization within the Framework of IMF Policies."

The training covered the economic and legal foundations of currency controls, instruments for managing capital flows, and the IMF’s approach to the liberalization process. The program aimed to enhance knowledge regarding the assessment of opportunities and risks arising from international financial integration, as well as the analysis of relevant economic policy decisions in relation to the legal and regulatory framework.

Practical exercises and case studies provided an opportunity to discuss the application of theoretical approaches to specific economic conditions. This format has highlighted the importance of considering economic objectives, institutional capabilities, and legal obligations collectively when evaluating decisions related to capital flows.
