The next meeting of the “Green Energy Space” working group, established to ensure the implementation of the measures envisaged in the “Strategy for the Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026” and to coordinate the activities of the relevant state bodies, was held.

Samir Valiyev, Deputy Minister of Energy, who chaired the meeting, stated that the implementation of measures under the “Green Energy Space” objective, along with strengthening energy security, makes an important contribution to mitigating the effects of climate change and ensuring environmental protection. It was noted that reforms carried out in the field of electricity and gas supply, the modernization and strengthening of electricity networks, the application of modern equipment, and the construction of new substations and power lines increase the quality and reliability of energy supply. The expansion of the use of renewable energy sources, increasing energy efficiency, and improving energy management systems create conditions for strengthening energy security, diversifying energy sources, reducing energy costs and losses, and enhancing economic competitiveness.

Subsequently, Ramil Huseyn, Deputy Chairman of the working group and Deputy Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, presented a report on the results of monitoring and evaluation for the first half of 2026 regarding the implementation of the relevant measures envisaged under Strategic Objective 5.2 – “Green Energy Space”. He provided information on the work carried out, the results of monitoring and evaluation, and the implementation indicators of measures according to the target indicators.

At the meeting, the opinions and proposals of the working group members regarding the report were heard, calls and recommendations concerning the work targeted for 2026 under the measures to be completed, as well as the next steps to be taken, were reviewed. Relevant instructions were also given regarding the full and effective completion of the implementation of these measures and the timely and comprehensive preparation of the final report in the upcoming period.

It should be noted that, in addition to the Ministry of Energy and the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, the working group on the “Green Energy Space” includes representatives of the Ministries of Economy, Ecology and Natural Resources, Agriculture, Digital Development and Transport, Finance, and Emergency Situations; the State Statistical Committee, the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, the State Customs Committee, SOCAR, the Central Bank, the Azerbaijan Investment Holding, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, Azerenerji, Azerishiq, and Azeristiliktechizat OJSCs.
