Within the framework of the implementation of the "State Program for the Development of Production and Processing of Agricultural, Fishery, and Aquaculture Products in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030," a regional conference dedicated to the development of cotton growing was held in the city of Sabirabad, focusing on the priority directions of the agricultural sector. Organized upon the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the event featured the participation of heads and representatives of relevant state entities, heads of local executive authorities, farmers, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders.
At the conference, Zeynal Nagdaliyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Territorial-Organizational Affairs Division of the Presidential Administration; Macnun Mammadov, Minister of Agriculture; Zaur Mikayilov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency; Samad Bashirli, Deputy Minister of Economy, and other officials delivered speeches, providing detailed information regarding the measures scheduled under the State Program, the development perspectives of cotton growing, and upcoming tasks.
The event hosted extensive discussions on the current status of the cotton sector, increasing productivity, water supply, the application of innovative approaches, and expanding processing capabilities across the Aqcabadi, Aqdam, Beylaqan, Barda, Bilasuvar, Fuzuli, Goranboy, Imishli, Kurdamir, Neftchala, Saatli, Sabirabad, Salyan, Tartar, Yevlax, and Zardab districts.
Bagish Ahmadov, Advisor to the Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), participated in the conference.
Within the scope of the event, the proposals of farmers and entrepreneurs were heard, and the importance of coordinated action among relevant state entities, local executive authorities, and the private sector toward the development of cotton growing was strongly emphasized.
It should be noted that regional conferences on the agricultural sector's development priorities for 2026–2030 were previously held in the Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, Ganja-Dashkasan, Central Aran, Mountainous Shirvan, Absheron-Khizi, Quba-Khachmaz, Lankaran-Astara, Qazax-Tovuz, Shirvan-Salyan, Nakhchivan, Sheki-Zaqatala, and Mil-Muqan economic regions.
