Regional Consultations on Agricultural Development Priorities for 2026–2030 Continue in Shirvan-Salyan and Nakhchivan Economic Regions
Regional consultations are continuing with the aim of discussing the State Programme on the Development of Production and Processing of Agricultural, Fishery and Aquaculture Products in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030, approved by Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated May 25, 2026. The purpose of the consultations is to ensure the implementation of the instructions given by President Ilham Aliyev on the development of the agricultural sector, the coordinated and effective execution of the measures envisaged under the State Programme across regions, and the strengthening of direct dialogue with farmers and entrepreneurs.
The consultations covered the Shirvan-Salyan and Nakhchivan economic regions. Organized by order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the events brought together responsible officials of the Presidential Administration, heads and representatives of relevant state bodies, local executive authorities, farmers, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders.
The consultation for the Shirvan-Salyan economic region was held in the city of Bilasuvar and featured addresses by Khalid Ahadov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Socio-Economic Affairs; Seymur Safarli, Deputy Minister of Agriculture; Rauf Hajiyev, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources; Khayyam Mammadov, First Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency; and other officials. The event featured discussions on the current state, development prospects, and key challenges in cotton growing, grain production, market gardening, animal husbandry, poultry farming, and fisheries across the Shirvan, Bilasuvar, Hajigabul, Neftchala, and Salyan districts.
The consultation for the Nakhchivan economic region was held in the city of Sharur and featured presentations by Jayhun Jalilov, Authorized Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic; Seymur Safarli, Deputy Minister of Agriculture; Agakarim Samadzade, First Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources; Ilham Bayramov, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency; and other officials, on the measures envisaged under the State Programme. Participants exchanged views on the development prospects, existing potential, and forthcoming tasks in fruit growing, vegetable farming, grain production, and animal husbandry across the Nakhchivan, Babak, Julfa, Kangarli, Ordubad, Sadarak, Shahbuz, and Sharur districts.
Representatives of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) also took part in the events. Abdulrahim Dadashov, Deputy Head of the Monitoring and Evaluation Department, attended the Shirvan-Salyan consultation, while Baghish Ahmadov, Adviser to the Executive Director of CAERC, participated in the Nakhchivan session.
At the consultations, proposals from farmers and entrepreneurs were heard, and the importance of coordinated action among relevant state bodies, local executive authorities, and the private sector for the effective implementation of the State Programme on the ground was underscored.
It should be noted that regional consultations on agricultural development priorities for 2026–2030 have previously been held in the Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, Ganja-Dashkasan, Central Aran, Mountainous Shirvan, Absheron-Khizi, Quba-Khachmaz, Karabakh, Lankaran-Astara, and Qazakh-Tovuz economic regions.
