The Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), Vusal Gasimli, will represent Azerbaijan at the 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Steering Group on Cross-border Paperless Trade Facilitation, to be held on 28–29 September in Bangkok.
The event is organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), with participation from all member states. During the meeting, Vusal Gasimli will deliver the opening speech. In his address, he will inform participants about the development of a “smart nation” in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
Over the two-day event, the working group will discuss several issues, including further refinement of the draft regional agreement on the facilitation of cross-border paperless trade, as well as the preparation of a roadmap for implementing key provisions of the agreement.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan is the first country among Asia-Pacific states to adopt the Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade. By decree of President Ilham Aliyev, the law on accession to the “Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in Asia and the Pacific” has been approved.
