Nijat Asadli, manager of the Digital Trade Hub operated by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), represented Azerbaijan at the “Arab Digital Economy Conference 2018” held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The conference was organized for the first time with the support of the UAE, the Arab League, and international organizations, aiming to provide an overall view of the digital economy. It brought together UAE government officials, representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Economy, and Planning, central bank executives, trade and industry chambers, business leaders, and investors. Detailed information about the Digital Trade Hub was presented, highlighting that experiences of individual countries are taken into account when developing long-term strategies for digital economy growth.
During the visit, Nijat Asadli also met with Dashgin Shikarov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the UAE. The discussions focused on Azerbaijan becoming the first country in the world to provide mobile signatures to non-residents, and the second country after Estonia to offer e-residency to foreigners. The meeting emphasized the importance of delivering comprehensive information to potential non-residents interested in Azerbaijan’s mobile and electronic residency programs, as well as the need for mutual cooperation in this area.
