The Executive Director of CAERC and Doctor of Economics, Vusal Gasimli, participated in the “Eurasia Week” event organized by the OECD in Paris. He delivered a speech at the presentation of the OECD report titled Promoting Diversification Through Entrepreneurship Development in Azerbaijan.
During his address, Gasimli discussed the promotion of entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan, the business environment created for foreign investors, new drivers of the economy, and the country’s diversification policies.
He also provided information on SMEs’ access to finance, citizen participation in decision making, policy advocacy, the inclusiveness of economic reforms, public–private dialogue, and results-based monitoring. The experience of Azerbaijan achieving the status of the “most reformist” country in the Doing Business report was discussed with delegations from other countries. The session dedicated to Azerbaijan included representatives from the OECD Eurasia Competition Program, OECD member countries, academia, business communities, key international partner organizations, and civil society from 13 countries. Gasimli also contributed to discussions on the report prepared for Georgia and on broader sessions concerning Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus.
The Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Niyazi Safarov, also attended the “Eurasia Week” event.
