The Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), with support from the Azexport portal, has launched a new mobile application in collaboration with GS1 Azerbaijan. The app provides users with information about products and manufacturers registered in the GS1 Azerbaijan database and on the Azexport portal.

Key features of the mobile application:

• Product verification: Users can scan barcodes on products using their mobile devices (Android or iOS) to retrieve detailed product information from the GS1 database.

• Counterfeit detection: If a scanned product is not found in the GS1 database, it may indicate that the product is counterfeit or unregistered.

• Supply chain and e-commerce support: Barcodes play a critical role in ensuring product quality, managing supply chains, and facilitating e-commerce operations.

Future developments:

• A blockchain-based solution will be introduced to fully protect Made in Azerbaijan products from counterfeiting, making any product forgery impossible.

The application was developed with financial support from the EBRD and technical support from the Azexport portal.
