The Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), Vusal Gasimli, met with a delegation from BP visiting Baku.
During the meeting, Vusal Gasimli received BP Group Advisors on Political and Economic Affairs Michael Denison and Julian Bowden, as well as BP’s Government Relations Advisor for the Azerbaijan–Georgia–Turkey region, Gunash Aliyeva. He provided detailed information on the economic reforms being implemented under the leadership of Ilham Aliyev and noted that the long-standing cooperation between Azerbaijan and BP has continued successfully for many years. Throughout this period, BP has acted as a key partner in the implementation of large-scale energy projects in the country.
Vusal Gasimli emphasized that the past year had been marked by significant developments in the energy sector. He highlighted that the contract for the Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli oil field had been extended until 2050 and that the successful implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor had been ensured. He also added that the opening of the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars Railway was a landmark event not only for Azerbaijan but also for the wider region and the world.
BP Group Political Affairs Advisor Michael Denison expressed his satisfaction with Azerbaijan’s progressive development. He highly praised the successful cooperation between BP and Azerbaijan, as well as the country’s policies aimed at ensuring energy security, and noted that the government of the United Kingdom would continue to support energy projects in the future.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on the current state of cooperation and future prospects between the parties.
