The Executive Director of the Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication Center, Vusal Gasimli, delivered a public lecture at ADA University on the topic “Economic Reforms in Azerbaijan: Results and Prospects.”
Speaking about the new economic model established in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Vusal Gasimli drew comparisons with the economic models of Malaysia, South Korea, Israel, and other countries. He noted: “Reforms in Azerbaijan are aimed at accelerating the development of the tradable sector relative to the non-tradable sector within the structure of the economy and initiating a new cycle of development. Thus, in the short term, resources, including labor resources, must be mobilized and utilized at a level that responds to the challenges of economic development. The reforms require ensuring good governance, liberalizing the market, and increasing productivity. The key challenge of the new economic model is the crucial role of human capital in boosting productivity.”
He added that the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund highly appreciate the successful economic reforms carried out in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. At the same time, Azerbaijan’s position has significantly improved in reputable reports presented by the World Economic Forum and the World Bank as a result of these economic reforms.
Following the lecture, Vusal Gasimli answered questions from foreign and local professors teaching at ADA University, as well as diplomats, business representatives, and students.
