The “Green and Digital Silk Road” international acceleration program, held within the framework of the “Startup School 3” project by the “Enterprise Azerbaijan” portal of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), has concluded. The final event of the program — “Demo Day” — was held at the Azerbaijan Innovation Center.
The opening part of the event began with an exhibition featuring startup projects that had reached the final stage of the acceleration program. More than 30 startups from Azerbaijan and Turkiye showcased their innovative projects. The exhibition presented technological solutions covering green energy, digital technologies, agricultural innovations, artificial intelligence, education, medicine, tourism, the chemical industry, and other sectors.
The projects were evaluated by a jury composed of representatives from venture funds based in Azerbaijan, Malta, the United States, and Turkiye.
During the continuation of “Demo Day,” Professor Vusal Gasimli, Executive Director of CAERC; Bahar Muradova, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs; Farid Osmanov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency; and Javid Abdullayev, Director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy, delivered speeches providing information about the work carried out in the fields of developing the country’s innovation ecosystem and expanding international cooperation.
Subsequently, Isa Gasimov, Head of the “Enterprise Azerbaijan” portal, delivered a presentation on the objectives, stages, and achieved results of the program.
Additional presentation opportunities were given to the startup teams participating in the exhibition: “Agro Gemtin,” “Smart Bin,” “The Bioplastic,” “Green Guest,” “SoilCredit,” “Zeuph,” and “Science Delta.”
During “Demo Day,” Professor Vusal Gasimli presented plaques to the jury members and expressed gratitude for their support. Afterwards, Murat Baday — founder of Synapses Ventures and professor at Stanford University (a U.S. partner of the acceleration program) — and Gonca Kara — representative of A8 Acceleration Center (a partner from Malta) — delivered remarks, highlighting the program’s contributions to the regional innovation environment and offering recommendations to startup teams.
At the conclusion of the event, the top three startups of the acceleration program were announced. It should be noted that the first- and second-place winners received travel vouchers from “Baku Holiday Travel,” a partner of the acceleration program.
1st place: “Agro Gemtin”
2nd place: “Smart Bin” (Turkey)
3rd place: “The Bioplastic”
Additionally, two teams received special awards from Synapses Ventures, the U.S. partner of the acceleration program. These teams earned full scholarships to participate in two high-level startup programs held in Silicon Valley.
It should be noted that the “Startup School” projects of the “Enterprise Azerbaijan” portal are implemented jointly with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and the Ozmen Center for Entrepreneurship of the University of Nevada, USA. Along with numerous international partners, “Startup School 3” also cooperated with the Silk Road High Technology Parks Association (SRHPA).
A total of 140 startups from countries located in Central Asia and along the Ancient Silk Road (Azerbaijan, Hungary, Turkiye, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, China) applied to participate in the “Green and Digital Silk Road” international acceleration program.
