Vusala Jafarova, Head of the Turkish World Research Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), participated in the "Model-Based Monetary Policy Analysis and Forecasting (MPAF)" training organized by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Institute and the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI) in Vienna, Austria.
During the two-week training, participants were instructed on forecasting key macroeconomic indicators such as GDP, inflation, and interest rates using structural models. The training also covered the application of modern tools, "nowcasting," and the use of econometric techniques to create alternative economic scenarios, which were demonstrated through country-specific examples.
As part of the training, Ms. Jafarova met with JVI Director Herve Joly, providing an overview of the training sessions conducted by IMF experts at CAERC. They discussed potential avenues for future collaboration between the two institutions, exchanging ideas on joint projects and cooperative efforts, particularly in organizing training sessions on econometric model building and performing model-based fiscal and monetary analyses at CAERC.
