Nijat Hajizade, Head of the division at the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, made a presentation titled "Azerbaijan: Macroeconomic Policy" in Vienna, the capital of Austria. The presentation was organized by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Institute and the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI) as part of the course "Macroeconomic Management in Resource-Rich Countries."
The presentation provided information on Azerbaijan's economic growth in both the overall and non-oil sectors, highlighting growth performance during the period from 2005 to 2024. It covered sectors contributing to economic growth, the dynamics of the aggregate output gap over the past 20 years, the monetary policy and exchange rate regime, as well as the main causes and sources of inflation. Nijat Hajizadeh also addressed the diversification of Azerbaijan's economy and exports, comparing diversification coefficients based on modern calculation methods, and assessed Azerbaijan's position in the domestic and foreign sectors using the SWAN model. He further discussed these issues and responded to questions from leading economists from participating countries, including representatives from the International Monetary Fund and the Joint Vienna Institute.
