Prof. Dr. Vusal Gasimli, Executive director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), participated in the UN "Future Summit" held in New York on November 12 of this year, alongside Tetsushi Sonobe, Executive Director of the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), his adviser Nicolas Bushoud, and the organization's media and cooperation adviser Kaori Hitomi. They discussed organizational matters regarding the Global Brain Centers Forum, which is planned to be held in Baku within the framework of COP29.

The main objective of the forum, titled "Global Green Economy: Financing, Innovation, and Climate Action," is to bring together government representatives, scientists, private sector participants, NGOs, and other stakeholders to discuss key issues related to climate change. The Forum, which will be organized jointly with AIIB, is expected to include the participation of the most influential think tanks that are part of the T20 network. The goal of the Forum is to foster a deeper understanding of the impacts of climate change and accelerate actions toward implementing the Paris Agreement by promoting dialogue between countries.

The mission of the Forum is to strengthen the exchange of experiences and cooperation between countries and organizations to define a unified approach to climate action, promote innovative technologies and practices to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy, and build trust among stakeholders by enhancing transparency and accountability.

The following topics will be discussed at the Forum:

  • International agreements on climate change, just transition, and the role of think tanks;
  • Transition to clean energy and critical minerals;
  • Climate change adaptation and financial issues;
  • Innovation and cooperation in climate change mitigation and adaptation;
  • Climate change and corporate social responsibility of stakeholders.

The Global Forum of Think Tanks, one of the important events of COP29, will bring together a wide audience in the fight against climate change. Organizing this forum will significantly contribute to enhancing Azerbaijan's reputation on the global stage within the framework of COP29 and strengthening the country's strategic position within the international think tank network.
