Prof. Dr. Vusal Gasimli, Executive director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), is participating in the "Future Summit" organized by the United Nations in New York. During the summit, Vusal Gasimli took part as a speaker at the "Cooperation of Global Brain Centers" event.

At the event, important discussions took place regarding COP29, which will be held in Azerbaijan this year, and COP30, scheduled to take place in Brazil in 2025. In his speech, Vusal Gasimli addressed global challenges in solving environmental issues, economic and political reforms, and topics related to the Sustainable Development Goals. He emphasized that maintaining global warming below 1.5°C should be a shared responsibility for all, carbon emissions must be reduced, and the transition to a "Green Economy" should encompass all sectors. He noted that this could be achieved by increasing initiatives and accelerating the transition to implementation. The first step of the COP29 plan calls on all parties to present ambitious national plans and ensure transparency. The second direction focuses on turning these initiatives into action and adapting to environmental changes.

Vusal Gasimli highlighted that COP29 will serve as a critical test for both the Paris Agreement and global climate action and cooperation: "We must concentrate on the 'New Collective Quantitative Target' (NCQG) for climate finance and address all the key and urgent issues at COP29."

At the end of the event, representatives from the world's leading think tanks expressed their intention to participate in the event jointly organized by the Asian Development Bank and CAERC as part of COP29 in Azerbaijan.
