Event was held at the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication as part of "Human Rights Month," announced by the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Nigar Hafizgızı, lawyer at CAERC, delivered a speech emphasizing that the legal reforms initiated by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, who established the Azerbaijan model of legal state building, are being successfully continued today. Under the political will of President Ilham Aliyev, the judicial system has been further modernized and aligned with European standards.

By the decree of the President dated June 17, 2007, the date when Great Leader Heydar Aliyev approved the first "State Program on the Protection of Human Rights" in our country in 1998 and defined the provision of human rights as one of the main directions of state policy, was declared Human Rights Day in Azerbaijan. Every year, traditionally, the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan declares "Human Rights Month" throughout the country from May 18 to June 18.
